My top 10 bucket list destinations

Sharing my travel experiences and tips is something that I love to do, but today I would like to do something a little different. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about my goals and dreams and I thought: why not share what is on my travel bucket list with you guys. So follow and dream along with my top 10 bucket list destinations!

1. Peru

Of course, my main reason for Peru being on this list is that I want to hike to the Machu Piccu. However, ever since doing a minor in Latin American business, I have developed a fascination with Latin American culture. I can’t wait to explore this country and learn more about the culture and rich history of the inca’s and the country itself!

2. Scotland

A roadtrip through Scotland has occupied a prominent place on my bucketlist for years. Every time I see someone post pictures of the gloomy, mysterious landscapes with medieval castles and those adorable Highland cows, it never fails to ignite my wanderlust. I can already envision the hills rolling by through the car window and running around in nature. Besides that, as a dark academia book lover, a trip to Edinburgh is an absolute necessity!

3. Portugal

I am ashamed to say, I have never been to Portugal. But in my dreams, I am preparing to live in Lisbon for a few months. Everyone I know raves about Portugal’s charms and I’m so excited to explore it. Besides visiting Lisbon and Porto, I really want to roadtrip the coastline and see the Algarve region for the ultimate adventure. Hopefully I can tick this one off in 2024!

4. Japan

Japan has always been a country that has interested me greatly. I love the contrast of the allure of the really modern and sometimes even futuristic country, while on the other hand, experiencing the old principles and traditions in its culture. It is also a country that I do not know that much about yet, which intrigues me. I would love to experience the people, learn more about the country’s history and try local foods. I would love to visit Tokyo to experience the madness and I think it would be dream to see the Japanese cherry blossom season in its full effect!

5. Thailand

Thailand seems to be the number 1 spot to travel to for people who have never been to Asia before, which includes me (wait, do we count Dubai as Asia or not?). I want to experience the madness of Bangkok, see all the beautiful temples, take a train to Chiang Mai and immerse myself in the country’s culture and nature. It seems a good first stop on this continent and is high on my list for my next trip out of Europe!

6. Iceland

While Iceland might not be the optimal place to travel to right now due to the latest volcano bursts, it is high on my list and I hope I will be able to visit it in the near future again. The island is a photographer’s paradise that I can’t wait to explore. Make a stop at the waterfalls, take a million pictures in the beautiful nature and spend my evenings watching a starry night sky. My dad has said for years that he wants to visit Iceland someday, so I hope we will be able to take this trip together!

7. Cambodia

I’m going to be really honest here, the main reason Cambodia is on this list is because I want to visit Angkor Watt. Yet, the prospect of delving deeper into this country's culture and history is equally enticing. Maybe the fact that I don’t know much about it yet could also be fun? Have you ever been and if so, what things do I absolutely have to see and do? I would love to hear your suggestions!

8. Mexico

One of my bucket list items is to see all 7 world wonders, so Mexico had to be on this list! Besides visiting Chichén Itza, I am so excited to travel around the country and learn more about the Mayan heritage, Mexican traditions and customs. And let’s not forget swimming in cenotes and laying in the sun on the beautiful beaches!

9. Bali
Every digital nomad’s dream right? Or so it seems. I’m so excited to find out if this island is really all that it’s made out to be. From everything I’ve seen and heard, it seems like paradise on earth and who wouldn’t want to experience that sometime? Looking forward to working from cafés with panoramic views, exploring all the waterfalls and experiencing local traditions.

10. Lapland
Last but not least, one of the few colder destinations on this list. I’ve always wanted to travel to Lapland to experience the northern lights, but after my sister went last year it has jumped multiple places up in my list! The snowy surroundings, seeing the northern lights and meeting actual reindeer are all high on my bucket list and I can’t wait to experience it someday!

So, these are some of my travel dreams for the future. Now I’m just wondering: what does your list look like? And if you've already ventured to any of these destinations, I'd love to hear your insights and recommendations in the comments below!

Until next time!
